Since getting her job at Essex Middle School in 2016, Ms. Schroeder has loved teaching. Seeing the smiling faces of students every morning has given Ms. Schroeder energy and a love for her work. That is no different this year, even after a transition from preparing 6th graders in math on Delta, to this year where she must teach 8th graders science in Galaxy. Although some would say this is a challenge, Ms. Schroeder takes it as an opportunity. To see the different “outputs” of Essex Middle School, one output being the outgoing 6th graders and the other being the outgoing 8th graders. She also loves getting to share her passion for science with other people and to see how far kids she had taught in 6th grade back in Delta are doing now, in Galaxy, in 8th grade. As a teacher who’s in such an interesting position teaching two different sides of the school, she definitely has some wisdom to tell both 8th graders and 6th graders. She says, “Do your homework, trust your teachers, ask questions, and have an open mind. If you do this you will be successful in your life.”
